A bald man wearing glasses.

Hi, I’m Hans.

I’m a PhD Candidate in Philosophy at Temple University in Philadelphia. Broadly speaking, I work in epistemology, philosophy of mind, and moral philosophy. More specifically, I’m interested in identity formation, maintenance, and practical reason. Most specifically, my dissertation is about transformative experiences and whether and how we can make, explain and justify our choices about who we want to be, and what we want our lives to be about, even if those choices also produce transformative experiences.

Outside of my research work, I love teaching philosophy and have taught a relatively wide range of core philosophical courses including Introduction to Philosophy of Mind, Introduction to Theory of Knowledge, Environmental Ethics, Medical Ethics, and Critical Thinking.
